Joyce has been breeding Border Terriers for over 30 years. Regina started just 15 years ago. Together they have bred over 175 champions. Our breeding stock are OFA'ed for hips, eyes, patellas and hearts. All of our animals are microchipped for positive identification.

CH Standish's Candy Kisses & CH Standish's Dynamite CD

The dog sitting up is Dyna, the second generation of Standish dogs. She is the top producing brood bitch in the breed history having 4 litters with 4 different sires and produced 21 champions. Candy the one lying down was her daughter and companion. Dyna  and Candy were both cerf'd for hips. As you can see Dyna had titles at both ends. All of our stock originated with these two girls.

Our puppies usually stay with their mother until they leave. We don't wean our puppies. The mother does. They are all very well socialized by attending dog shows and getting out in public when it is safe to do so.

Care and Feeding of a Border Terrier

Congratulations on your new puppy. The first recommendation is a trip to the vet for a well puppy examination. Your puppy has been vaccinated against parvo, distemper, adenovirus and parainfluenza. (We do not give Lepto. Borders have been known to have adverse reactions to this shot.) These vaccinations are given at 5, 7 and 9 weeks of age. The babies were also wormed at 5 weeks and then 10 days later and 10 days after that with strongid.

The puppies eat  ProPlan Brand adult food. We do not feed puppy food. At this time they are eating small breed adult food. They eat 1 cup per day. If you feed more than that they will get fat very quickly. You can split the meal up and feed as often as you like. Currently they get their main meal in the morning and biscuits in the evening. Feeding them in the morning gives them all day to evacuate the bulk of their food.  We always have water available at their discretion.  If you have read any books on borders, you have seen that they dig, run away, and have a host of other bad habits.

We have had this breed for 20+ years and have found these have been exceptions rather than the rule.  Our borders don't dig, bark excessively or run.  Our philosophy is that animals are what you make them.  Raise them like a member of the family and you will be happy with the results.  We recommend obedience training with all canines.  You can get information from your local kennel club.  Any other information you, need email us.
